Ghost Road
From Ardesia
The Ghost Road passes through Hadur's Canyon. Once a high road through the mountains that joined the Swift Valley to the hills and great plains beyond the Dayfalls, the former Swift Road is now a desolate path braved by few to none.
Its construction is astounding still, and engineers from Dragon Falls often visit the first mile to marvel at the work. Carved from the canyon wall itself, the Road is actually a galleried tunnel through the south wall. The Road is broad enough for three carts to pass side-by-side and leave room for foot traffic, and high enough for standard-bearers to ride on horseback. A chest-high sill four feet deep separates travellers from the sheer drop. The breadth of the windows varies along the length of road, in some places being only a few paces between columns and others being dozens of yards.
During the Witch Wars, several battles took place on the Road itself and sappers damaged lengths of it. Today it is considered impassable both for the yawning gaps at places and for the atmosphere of corruption created by the misuse of magic. The echoes of the dead who fell there and the fear of what may befall travellers gives the Road its new moniker.
