Swift Valley
From Ardesia
The Swift Valley is named for the Swift River which flows through it from the Dayfall Mountains in the west through the Fens and to the Broken Sea in the east. It is bound to the north by the plateau of the Serpent Wood and to the south by the hills of the Spine. The Valley is the geographic and economic centre of Tayel.
The Briarwind Hills lie at the head of the Valley. As they lower and thin, the Valley broadens in a long, nearly flat floodplain with the bends of the Swift threading down the middle. The soil is rich and supports the fields and orchards of Tayel. The land becomes marshier in the eastern half of the Valley, eventually becoming the semi-wooded swampland called the Fens in the fingers of the Swift River's delta.
